A different angle
Collaborating closely with Interserve and Devereux architects, Taylor Maxwell sourced and supplied a range of materials for this project, including the CORIUM mechanically fixed brick cladding system and architectural masonry.
The new RILD Centre at Wonford is a single building, incorporates four floors of facilities and shared by the University of Exeter, Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust for education and training purposes.
Designed by Devereux Architects, the stylish, modern development incorporates a highly glazed central ‘hub’, forming the main entrance area. During early consultation, the CORIUM system was offered as a perfect solution for the pitched facade of the building, where the system could be installed vertically and could not be achieved using a traditionally brick build.
The accommodation wings were faced in architectural masonry, with both a textured and smooth finish, echoing those materials traditionally used locally.
