Construction Timber
C16 Timber
We supply the merchant and manufacturing trade with full and mixed trailer loads of C16 carcassing from our two sawmill suppliers in Ireland; GP Wood and Murray Timber. C16 offers the customer a quality and affordable graded timber product delivered to the door on a just-in-time service.
Product Overview
‘C16’ Timber refers to the strength class each piece of timber achieves from a grading process, which can then be used for structural calculations such as in ‘Span Tables’. The most common grades we use in the UK are C16 and C24. These are primarily used as floor and deck joists, studwork, roof work and framing.
C16 timber is most commonly produced in the UK and Ireland from what are commonly referred to as ‘homegrown’ forests and sawmills and is primarily sourced from Spruce timber.

Strength Properties
The strength of timber is calculated after it has been kiln-dried to below 20% moisture content. C16 tends to have more physical defects, such as knots and pinworm holes which lowers the strength of the timber.
